The Bronx Zoo’s award-winning Education Department is dedicated to teaching youngsters and adults about wildlife and wild habitats through engaging, interactive programs. Our offerings for adults, families, children, and teens include guided tours, family overnights, summer programs, and opportunities to meet zoo experts and get an insider’s look at our animals and exhibits. All programs require advance reservation.

Children's Programs

Budding zoologists can get an insider’s look at the Zoo’s animals and exhibits by participating in our interactive children’s programs. They’ll meet like-minded kids and experts who’ll offer a glimpse of what would it be like to work at the Bronx Zoo.

Family Programs

Spend a day—or a night—at the Zoo with your children and enjoy private exhibit viewings, themed activities, up-close animal encounters, and special celebrations of Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and other family holidays.

Adult Programs

Explore issues of wildlife conservation with Bronx Zoo staff, experience the Zoo after-hours, and see our exhibits and animals through an expert’s eye. At these programs, you’ll also have an opportunity to meet and mingle with other wildlife devotees.

Summer Programs

The Bronx Zoo offers weeklong camp programs throughout the summer for young adventurers of two age groups, 5–7 and 8–12. A summer internship program introduces teens to a variety of wildlife-related careers and provides hands-on work opportunities.

Tours

Explore the Bronx Zoo with our helpful, trained guides. Since 1970, the Friends of the Zoo have provided guided tours to groups of schoolchildren, scouts, families, and adults who are interested in learning more about our animals and exhibits.

Educators

Whether you are seeking to enrich your students’ field trip to the Zoo or a lesson in your own classroom, the Bronx Zoo’s Education Department offers a wide range of programs to enhance science curricula for kindergarteners through twelfth graders.
