The Education Division of WCS is dedicated to providing quality services and resources to teachers in the New York City region and across the country. Our professional development courses for teachers, lesson plans, and other materials for use with grades K–12 have won awards from leading and prestigious organizations such as the U.S. Department of Education, Association of Educational Publishers, Association of Zoos and Aquariums.
These preparatory and post-visit activities help your students make the most of their day at the zoo or aquarium. Games are tailored for a variety of ages, including Lumpy, Bumpy, Scratchy, Smooth for grades K–3 and Animal Architects for grades 6–8.
Activities to do at the Zoo
Students will enjoy playing games like Spot the Stripe, Adaptation Match, and Foot Note while they’re visiting the zoo. These activities help keep them engaged in learning throughout the day.
Online Interactive Activities for the Classroom
Our online activities use interactive games to reinforce science concepts. By incorporating these games into your lesson plans, you’ll add a new dimension to your classroom.
Visit the WCS YouTube page to connect with critters from the Bronx Zoo, Central Park Zoo, Prospect Park Zoo, Queens Zoo, and New York Aquarium. Through these videos, your students can meet some of the people who care for the animals and hear from wildlife conservationists in the field.
