Vote for the People's Favorite Ice Sculpture

On Dec. 27, the 14 competitors in the zoo's Salute to Wildlife Ice Carving Competition, presented by Food Network, sculpted wildlife masterpieces out of 600 pounds of ice. Vote for your favorite for a chance to win great prizes!

More than 5,000 people attended the first-ever ice carving competition in New York City on Sunday, Dec. 27. The 14 competitors wielded chainsaws and power tools to create wildlife masterpieces out of 600 pounds of ice. The judges' panel selected three finalists, but we need your help to select the People's Favorite.


Winners/Judges' Awards

  • First Place: Jeff Scarpa, Freelance ice carver/chef from Connecticut
    Carved an intricate seascape including a shark and a sea turtle, entitled “Bronx Sea”

  • Second Place: Dan Bergan, Ice Sculpture Designs
    Highlighted the beauty of the whooping crane and the dangers it faces, entitled “Survival”

  • Third Place: Mark McKenzie, Cool Way Ice Creations
    Created a delicate depiction of a fish soaring above the sea, entitled “Flying Fish”
