Beloved books by legendary children’s author Eric Carle come to life at the Bronx Zoo this summer with live performances, music, games, and other activities.

Tickets are required and must be reserved in advance.

Four Stories Come to Life

Bring your friends and family on an imaginary journey through classics of children’s literature. Performances, dancing, music, activities, and puppets will spread out throughout the Bronx Zoo - each one featuring a different story and leading you through fun, safe, leisurely explorations of The Very Hungry Caterpillar; Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?; The Very Busy Spider; and The Artist Who Painted a Blue Horse.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar

Learn that you, like the little caterpillar, will grow up, unfold your wings, and fly into the future. Along the way, learn about the days of the week, early counting, and good nutrition. A show filled with puppets, music, and adventure.

Take photos with larger-than-life illustrations from the book, "eat your way" through foods from the book, and spread your beautiful butterfly wings!

Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you See?

A theatrical book-reading with plenty of audience participation, and a color game where kids can learn about the importance of colors for animals in the wild. Plus, visit some real brown bears just steps away.

Use your observation skills like a scientist as you look for animals of all sorts of colors around the zoo.

The Very Busy Spider

Children will enjoy a puppet show, theater games, and songs while learning how to finish what we start even if we get a little distracted. We’ll also learn some fun facts about farm animals.
