Queens Zoo Birthday Parties FAQs
What if I bring additional adults?
Party packages are for either 25 of 36 people. That is adults and children combined. Maximum capacity for the room is 50 people. There will be an additional charge of $15 per person over the base fee for the party that you choose. If there are more 50 participants, they will be required to leave the party room. Admission tickets can be purchased at the Zoo entrances on the day of the party if additional guests wish to walk around while the party takes place.
Are adults able to stay with their children during the party?
The birthday child's parents or parent plus one other adult must remain with the party group at all times. Please note that for our party package, the head count (25 or 36) includes both the children and adults who are in the party room for the event. For children ages 8-12, adults can drop off their children at the party room and return at the end of the party.
Can we remain in the Zoo after the party?
You are given access to your private room only for the two hours designated for your party. Afterwards, you must leave the room. You are welcome to visit the Zoo on your own after the party.
What age is appropriate for a zoo birthday party?
Our parties are geared for children ages 2–12. In order to schedule a party, the birthday child must be turning at least 2 years old.
Are animals brought into the party room?
Yes! An education animal connected to your party's theme will be brought into the party room for guests to learn about and also touch.
What if I need to cancel my party?
There will be no refunds for cancellations made less than three weeks prior to the scheduled date. All cancellation requests must be made in writing either by email (qzeducation@wcs.org) or fax (718-271-4441). Due to administrative costs, a 50% refund will be provided upon receipt of a written cancellation if received 3 weeks in advance. All returned checks will incur a $35 returned check fee. Birthday parties are held rain or shine.
Can I bring my own decorations?
Yes. However, balloons and piñatas are not permitted in the Zoo. There are no exceptions.
Where do my guests go when they arrive at the Zoo?
A Zoo staff member will meet your guests at the Front Gate. Your guests will then be directed to the party room. Latecomers can check in with our admissions gate staff for directions to the party room.
