Explore the Bronx Zoo with our knowledgeable and trained guides, Friends of the Zoo. We provide 90 minute guided tours to groups of schoolchildren, scouts, families, and adults who are interested in learning more about our animals and exhibits.

Fees

Nonrefundable registration fee of $100.00 is charged for a minimum of 10 people. Each additional person is $10.00.

School groups: The fee is $2.00 per student (minimum of 10 students.) An adult chaperone is required per every ten students.

Program Information

Teachers can arrange a walking tour of selected exhibits for their class, any weekday morning from late September through June. Adult groups can be accommodated throughout the year.

Predator/Prey Tour
Learn about the relationship between predators and their prey including the physical and behavioral adaptations they have to help them survive.

Adaptation Tour
Examine the differences in animals that allow them to survive in varied environments such as rainforests, grasslands and deserts.

Endangered Species Tour (4th Grade & up)
Explore the causes as to why wildlife is disappearing learning what conservation actions people can take to prevent it.

Congo Gorilla Forest (additional admission applies)
Walk down a path where you will meet monkeys, okapis, red river hogs, gorillas, and more as you listen to the unique sounds of the African rain forest.

Madagascar and More Tour
Meet one-of-a-kind wildlife from the world’s fourth largest island. Nile crocodiles, lemurs, and fossa are just some of the animals you will meet on this tour centered on the Bronx Zoo’s historic Astor Court.

JungleWorld Tour (September to March only; additional admission applies)
Journey through an Asian rain forest and learn about the varied habitats within it. Students will observe animals from all layers of the rainforest including monkeys, otters, bats, archerfish, fly-river turtles, and peafowl.

Mouse House Tour
See animals that represent habitats from around the world and learn how the animals that inhabit the Mouse House are adapted to their unique environments.

World of Birds Tour
Listen to numerous bird calls as you learn about bird anatomy, what makes flight possible, courting and nesting habits, as well as the threats that many birds face in today’s world.

Aquatic Bird House Tour
Venture into the Aquatic Bird House where you will meet flamingos, ibises, puffins and more. You will be introduced to the special qualities of these water loving birds.

The World of Reptiles Tour (September to March only)
Investigate the characteristics of reptiles and amphibians, as well as learn what makes individual species unique.

You can choose a tour of one of our exciting exhibits such as the Congo Gorilla Forest, Jungleworld or Madagascar! or chose from one of the following themes: adaptations, predator/prey, or endangered species; each which utilize exhibits throughout the Zoo.
