Camp: Entering 3rd-5th Grade

During this week of camp, explore wildlife and habitats from all around the world, including right here in the Bronx! Campers will learn about the techniques and tools scientists use to study animals when they are out on safari and put these tools to use exploring the wild habitats all around the zoo. Exploration of the zoo's natural areas, scientific studies, live animal encounters, and exhibit visits will leave your young safari guide with a new love and appreciation for the natural world!

Dates: June 22-26, July 13-17, July 27-31, Aug 10-14 or Aug 31-Sept 4
Time: 9:00am-3:00pm

What do bird wings and jet engines have in common? Scientists have long been inspired by nature to create innovative structures, materials, and other inventions. Let your young scientist's imagination run wild this summer as they use exhibit visits, up-close animal encounters, and hands-on activities to create their own bio-inspired designs.

Dates: July 6-10, July 20-24, Aug 3-7 or Aug 17-21
Time: 9:00am-3:00pm

In this after-camp class, students will learn about the different aspects of zoo veterinary medicine taught by WCS veterinarian Dr. John Sykes. Classes will involve real veterinary medicine equipment and supplies. Students will gain an appreciation of what zoo veterinarians do every day and how animals at the zoo are cared for. Topics may include: Session 1: focus on the eye; Upper GIT/Teeth; Darting and Session 2: focus on the ear; Lower GIT; Anesthesia; Bones

Dates: July 13-17 (Session 1) or July 27-31 (Session 2)
Time: 3:00-4:30pm

Stay at the Zoo a little longer! Extended care is a great option for caregivers who can't pick up their camper at 3:00pm and allows grown-ups to pick up anytime between 5:00pm and 5:30pm. Extended care includes opportunities for free play and an exhibit visit, weather permitting. Minimum number required to run the program.
