Exhibit Builders

How do WCS scientists, artists, and exhibit designers replicate the natural areas we protect around the globe in our zoo? During this week of camp, find out how WCS recreates these habitats while educating and inspiring visitors about the imperiled animals that live there. Engaging activities, exhibit visits, and animal demonstrations will engage campers with a new understanding of zoo exhibit design. Campers will use what they have learned to then explore some of the Bronx Zoo's natural areas and create their own model exhibit!

Dates: July 20-24 or Aug 24-28
Time: 9:00am-3:00pm

Wildlife Advocates

You want to save wildlife. How can you inspire other people to help? Campers will explore the ways scientists encourage and educate people about conservation. Through animal demonstrations, wildlife conservation campaigns, and media and art, your camper will learn how to advocate for wildlife and wild places. Discover the power you have to make a difference!

Dates: Aug 17-21

Zoo Vet Academy

Has your 6th-8th grader ever thought about being a veterinarian? Taught by WCS zoo veterinarian Dr. John Sykes, this class will explore veterinary medicine from a "wild" perspective! Using a combination of live animals, real veterinary equipment, and custom-designed models, campers will learn about how we use medicine and surgery to help keep all the animals at the zoo healthy! Note: these classes are different from those taught in the Little Zoo Vet classes for 3rd-5th graders and involve more advanced procedures!

Dates: July 20-24
Time: 3:00-4:30pm

Working for Wildlife

Is your teen passionate about wildlife? This summer, give them an opportunity to explore a wide variety of zoo-related careers including zookeeper, veterinarian, field scientist, and more in this immersive two week program. Teens will learn what it's like to be a zookeeper by assisting Bronx Zoo staff at our Camel Barn and Children’s Zoo. Then, through rewarding enrichment opportunities, unique career explorations, and visits from animal guests, your teen will learn about the diversity of career options that exist for someone who is passionate about wildlife!

Dates: July 6-17 or Aug 3-14 (M-F)
Time: 8:00am-2:00pm
