Marsya Sibarani
Research and Data Management Officer, WCS Indonesia
“The basic thing we need to work in science is curiosity. I was astonished by the complexity of tropical rainforests when I was in school.”
As a Research and Data Management Officer, Marsya is responsible for managing and analyzing data related to biodiversity surveys in Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park. Her work includes estimating tiger population density in the park, modeling the distribution of tigers’ prey species, and collaborating with the patrolling team to map areas with high risk of illegal activities. Along with colleagues at WCS Indonesia, Marsya helps manage long-term survey data and analyze the data to inform the park managers on how to effectively conserve the park.
