Are You Ready to GROW Your Teaching Practice? Join us for an after-work evening of inspiration and “green thumb” learning at the Bronx Zoo’s NEW Urban Ecology Learning Lab!
Explore this unique green roof as you DIG into native planting, local pollinators, and sustainable practices. Get your gardening gloves on for hands-on activities designed to help new ideas SPROUT—whether you’re dreaming of a garden, strengthening an existing green space, incorporating more plant-based learning into your curriculum, or simply bringing more biodiversity, conservation, and sustainability into your classroom.
While enjoying beverages and light hors d’oeuvres, mingle with fellow educators, swap ideas, and GROW your network with fellow nature-loving educators. Unwind, get inspired, and leave with practical ideas and activities you can bring back to your students!

Meet Your Instructor
Nuno Peixoto (he/his)
Nuno is a Professional Development Coordinator whose love for wildlife, conversation, and education is present in all that he does here at WCS. He obtained his undergraduate degree in Childhood Education with a concentration in Biology, and his Master of Science in Teaching, Literacy. He has over 5 years of teaching experience at the elementary level, and he hopes to use these past experiences to partner with educators to expand their knowledge of the natural world and pedagogy. His goal is to foster a community of educators who will make meaningful changes in their classrooms and communities to help not only their students succeed, but also to inspire them to appreciate and care for animals and nature.
Tara Chudoba (she/her)
Tara is a Manager of Professional Development and finds joy in partnering with educators in their personal journeys of learning and discovery. She obtained her undergraduate degree in Biology, with a focus on Animal Behavior and her Masters of Science in Teaching, Conservation Biology. Prior to joining WCS, she had many roles in informal science institutions from digital design and exhibit development to education programming, school partnerships, and managing research and development projects. She hopes to instill in others, a passion for wildlife and a practice of finding ways to promote positive change in our world.
