Connecting Global Conservation Stories: Using Scientific Methods
This professional learning day is the second session in our five-workshop series that links the Wildlife Conservation Society’s global research and conservation initiatives to local settings and classrooms. Join us at the Queens Zoo to discover how mathematical and analytical skills empower scientists to safeguard animals and preserve habitats in innovative ways! By addressing SEP #4: Analyzing & Interpreting Data and SEP #5: Using Mathematics & Computational Thinking, you’ll see how global scientific research can be integrated into your teaching. We’ll dive into understanding graphs, calculating data, and recognizing patterns. This workshop will inspire exploration for students in and beyond their classrooms.

Retiring from the classroom only meant leaving her day job. Christine Boyer has cultivated a deep love for education and a passion for science so working for WCS is a natural next step. As an Adjunct Conservation Educator, Christine’s goal is to bring her years of classroom experience to a new level working with dynamic educators to bring the message of conservation, and the importance of our connections to the natural world to as many students as possible.
