Bats, Beliefs, & Bright Ideas: A World of Darkness Teacher Event

Join us for a teacher-exclusive networking event celebrating Indigenous Peoples’ Day, Bat Conservation Week, and the reopening of our nocturnal exhibit, World of Darkness! Teachers will enjoy food, beverages, and gain tools and resources for classrooms. Connect through storytelling with peers while discovering the fascinating adaptations of animals that thrive when the sun goes down. We will unpack the value of understanding nocturnal life, seeking out underrepresented perspectives, and celebrate the critical role teachers play in inspiring curiosity about our natural world.

Time: 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Price: $80 pp ($64 for members and groups)
Course is eligible for: 4 CTLE Hours

Meet Your Instructor

Shannen Rivadeneira (she/her)
A true innate lover of wildlife, Shannen Rivadeneira has dedicated her life to connecting with people from all over the world and inspiring conservation action. As a Professional Development Coordinator, Shannen seeks to build comfort and confidence in learning about the natural world. She holds a BS in Biological Sciences-Zoology from Florida State University and an MS in Conservation Biology from University of Central Florida. She is currently pursuing her doctorate in Environmental Studies from Antioch University New England researching authentic cultural incorporation in community conservation programs.
