Celebrating Reptile Awareness Day

with Kelvin Alvarez of the Bronx Zoo

  • Date: October 21, 2021
  • Time: 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. EST
  • Guest Speaker: Kelvin Alvarez, Wild Animal Keeper at the Bronx Zoo

According to the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN), over 20% of reptile species are nearing extinction. This is why first-generation Bronx born and raised Kelvin Alvarez, Wild Animal Keeper at the WCS Bronx Zoo, is collaborating on research to conserve them. You’ll hear about his journey of realizing a dream career working with reptiles and how he is manipulating the sex of Cuban crocodile hatchlings to aid wild populations. Join us as we celebrate Reptile Awareness Day and discuss how anyone can have a global impact on species.
