Effective Communication
Good communication is key for any relationship, but especially for mentors and mentees. The Effective Communication module includes a variety of activities and lessons which encourage mentors to both practice their communication skills and reflect on how to improve them. Through these activities, they will learn how to assess understanding and handle challenging group behaviors.
Practicing Communication Skills
Mentors will have the opportunity to test out their communication skills and reflect on why communication sometimes falters.
Active Listening
Mentors will learn to recognize elements of active listening and understand how it promotes effective communication.
Building Constructive Group Dynamics
Mentors will explore the elements necessary for cultivating positive group dynamics. They will have an opportunity to explore challenging group behaviors and generate methods for managing them.
Getting to Know Your Mentees
Mentors will be provided with a list of questions that they should begin to think about as they get to know their mentees.

Mentors will generate strategies for ensuring their mentee is effectively processing and understanding communications.
