They will examine ecological niches in ecosystems throughout the world and construct their own bat that would thrive in a specific ecosystem. .

Bats are one of the most diverse groups of mammals, second only to rodents. The truth about bats is a lot more interesting than our misconceptions about them. However, the questions remain: Where did these misconceptions come from? How do they affect bats today?
In this lesson, students will use their research and writing skills to write an analytical essay unpacking how bats are misrepresented in the media.
Bat Community and Conservation
Bats are increasingly threatened by deforestation, climate change, and disease. Using the important work of WCS Bats as well as student-led research, your students will identify specific threats to bat populations and find out what role they can play to help save bats.
