Yes. All visitors must have a Dinosaurs in Darkness: The Hatching ticket.


What is the recommended age for Dinosaurs in Darkness: The Hatching?

Generally, grade-school age and older. This event has a dark and slightly spooky atmosphere. Be aware that there are some jump-out surprises and unexpected scares along the route. The overall experience is family-friendly for a wide age range.

Visitors age 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult chaperone (age 18+).


Do you offer refunds?

All ticket sales are final sale and non-refundable.

How do I get tickets?

Dinosaurs in Darkness: The Hatching tickets are available for purchase online only. All visitors, including Members, must reserve a date- and time specific ticket in advance. No tickets will be sold on site.


Do I need to print my ticket?

Online tickets can be scanned from your mobile device and do not need to be printed. If you do print your tickets: use best quality resolution on white paper; bring ALL the printed tickets. Ticket (printed or digital) must be presented for entry. Each ticket scan is unique. If you are not arriving with all guests in your order, be sure each person has their tickets in advance. There is no will call or ticket holding window available.


Is there a group rate?

No, there is no group rate available for Dinosaurs in Darkness: The Hatching.


What if the event is canceled or postponed?

We will make all announcements about overall event schedule or closures on our website: BronxZoo.com

While we plan to be open all of our operating dates, please understand if a significant weather event or storm might cause a change of schedule. In the event of a closure, you will be issued new ticket(s) for another operating date.

Can I stay for Dinosaurs in Darkness: The Hatching if I come during the day?

No. Daytime park hours in October are 10:00am – 5:00pm on Fridays and 10:00am – 5:30pm on Saturdays. The last tickets sold for daytime operating hours is 3:00pm. Guests with daytime admission tickets MUST exit the park by regular zoo closing hours, then enter for Dinosaurs in Darkness at the time slot purchased.


I cannot go on the date I selected, can I reschedule for another night or get a refund?

All ticket sales are final. There are no refunds, cancellations or rescheduling. Due to capacity restrictions we must adhere to the ticketing policies which were stated prior to purchase. This includes the terms and conditions acknowledgement that all sales are final and there are no revisions for credit, refund, rescheduling, exchange or cancellation.


I didn’t get an email with my tickets – what do I do?

We are sorry for the difficulty. Please first check to confirm that the purchase was completed on your credit card. If the charge is in “Pending” status of your account, that means that the transaction was not completed and there is no order made.

If the charge was fully processed and you viewed the Sale Confirmation page, but you did not receive the order email, then check your junk/spam folder. If you do not find it, you can contact us to resend your tickets. Please reach out to the Reservation Center to ask for the tickets to be resent: Phone: 800-433-4149 or email (if visit is more than 7 days away): onlinetickets@wcs.org. Be sure to include the name, email and phone number associated with your purchase.

You must get the tickets resent prior to your visit to ensure that your order was processed. If you do arrive on site without the ticket PDF it is a risk that you may not have an order reservation, and if we are sold out you will not be permitted entry.

Entrance to this event is ONLY via Bronx River Gate

Is parking available?

Parking at the Bronx Zoo is available via the Bronx River Parkway ONLY. (GPS coordinates 40.853964) $10 car; $20 bus. Availability is on a first come first served basis and not guaranteed. Please check https://event.bronxzoo.com/parking before you visit to check parking availability.

WCS Members: Free parking is only available to members who have Bronx Zoo parking added to their membership.

If you're using public transportation, you MUST use the Pelham Parkway subway station as Asia Gate will be closed.


What is the best place for me to get a shared ride service or taxi?

Bronx River Pedestrian entrance. Intersection of "Boston Road and Bronx River Parkway Road"


How do I get to the zoo if I don't have a car?

EXPRESS BUS from Manhattan: The BxM11 Express Bus makes stops along Madison Avenue, between 26th and 99th Streets, then travels directly to the Zoo's Bronx River entrance (Gate B). For your return trip, pick up the bus just outside the same gate at the MTA BxM11 sign (just outside the Bronx Zoo gate, to the right).

SUBWAY: #2 train to Pelham Parkway Station. This station has three elevators* that lead down to street level. Walk west, where Boston Road meets Bronx Park East. Follow Boston Road to the Zoo's Bronx River entrance (Gate B - intersection of Boston Road and Bronx River Parkway Road). Be sure to check with the MTA for schedules.

The Experience

When is Dinosaurs in Darkness?

Friday and Saturday nights – October 7, 2022 – October 29, 2022


What are Dinosaurs in Darkness hours of operation?

There are 5 designated time slots to attend: 7pm, 7:45pm, 8:30pm, 9:15pm.

You must select a time and attend only your selected show time purchased. If you have a 9:15pm ticket, last entry is 9:30pm.


Which gates/entrances are open for Dinosaurs in Darkness?

Bronx River Entrance ONLY. The Southern Boulevard and Asia Entrances are not open for Dinosaurs in Darkness.


Is the entire zoo open?

No. Only a portion of the zoo is open for this program. All animal exhibit buildings and some other areas will be closed at normal daytime park hours. Please adhere to all posted signs or barriers that block off some pathways as well as one- way paths.


Will animal exhibits be open?

No, there are no animal exhibits open during Dinosaurs in Darkness operating nights.


Can I eat there?

A variety of food trucks will be available to purchase food. Members discount offers do not apply.


Is the zoo shuttle running?

No, the Zoo Shuttle will not be operating. This is a walk-through experience only.


How long does it take to experience the whole event?

Upon arrival guests will walk from the Bronx River entrance to Fountain Circle. Once in Fountain Circle, your group will be in in a queuing line for entry into the Dinosaurs in Darkness experience. Wait times vary based on the volume of guests. We want everyone to experience the event as it is intended. Groups are pulsed so that everyone can have a thrilling time.

The actual experience is approximately 25 minutes long.


Can I touch the displays?

For your safety, please do not touch any of the dinosaur or light displays. Stay on marked pathways and do not wander into planters or display areas.


Can I rent a wheelchair or stroller?

A limited number of manual wheelchairs will be available for rent on a first-come, first-served basis. This experience is a walking path that is wheelchair accessible inclines. If you have questions about accessibility or mobility accommodations, please contact guestrelations@wcs.org.


Membership

Do members get Dinosaurs in Darkness free?

No. Members do receive an exclusive discount for the amount of individuals covered on their membership. Membership tickets are $23.95 per person. Tickets must be purchased online in advance for a specific time and date.


I have a WCS IDNYC Membership - what discounts do I get?

Dinosaurs in Darkness is a special event with extended park hours and is not included in IDNYC Member benefits. A WCS IDNYC Member can purchase a Dinosaurs in Darkness ticket at our Member discount. Member discount is only for the quantity of people on the Membership (IDNYC Membership covers one person - only the individual named on the card). Valid Membership card and ID must be presented on entry with Member ticket. If you'd like to upgrade your existing Membership you can! Call us at 718-220-5112 from 9 am to 5 pm daily!


Is there a WCS member discount?

Yes! WCS Members pay $23.95 per person with discount code HATCHING4MEMBERS.

Discount code must be entered at the time of checkout. Cannot be combined with any other discounts or promotions. Not applicable towards prior purchases. Non-transferable.

Must present a valid Membership card + ID on arrival. You will be asked to pay the $6 difference in ticket price per person if proper credentials are not presented.


As a WCS Member, can I buy discounted tickets for my friends/family?

The Member discount for Dinosaurs in Darkness tickets is for Members only. You must show your Membership card and photo ID upon entry when using discounted Member tickets. Discounted tickets are only for the quantity of people covered on your Membership.


Know Before You Go

Important Warning: Some areas may include intense audio, UV lighting, extremely low visibility, strobe lights, fog, and/or special effects. It is not recommended for guests who are claustrophobic, pregnant, are prone to seizures, or have heart and/or respiratory problems.

What items are not permitted?

Balloons, radios, bikes, skateboards, or scooters are not permitted in the Zoo. Playing ball is also prohibited. Firearms, pocket knives or any weapons, fireworks, drugs and outside food or drinks are not permitted.

Can I smoke?

The Bronx Zoo is a smoke-free park. Smoking of any kind, including e-cigarettes, is only permitted in parking lots.


Is Dinosaurs in Darkness wheelchair accessible?

Yes. The route has inclines which are wheelchair accessible. Please contact us in advance if someone in your reservation needs assistance or accommodations for accessibility, so we can help support the best experience. Will there be bag searches prior to entry?

Bags may be subject to search prior to entry. Firearms, pocket knives or any weapons, fireworks, drugs and outside food or drinks are not permitted.


Can I attend a different time period from what I purchased?

Due to capacity restrictions, you are only permitted to attend the event for the time slot you purchased.


What safety measures are in place?

Your safety is our priority. Our First Aid station will be open and NYPD will be present throughout the evening. Disorderly conduct will result in your immediate removal from the park. This includes, but is not limited to, trespassing into restricted areas; touching actors or staff.

Can I leave and return?

There is no re-entry. If you leave the event for any reason, you will be unable to return.

Please be advised that this event is being photographed, filmed, videotaped or otherwise recorded for future use. WCS has the non-exclusive right to record your likeness while participating in the event and to use your likeness in all media worldwide in perpetuity, without remuneration, for WCS's institutional, educational and promotional purposes.
