Season 3, Episode 7
Burrowing Owlets
This week we got an update on the burrowing owls fans may remember from season 2 of THE ZOO and it’s an exciting one! Over the summer in 2018 we announced four tiny new additions to the zoo, burrowing owlets.
They mature quickly. Take a look at some of the photos below to spot the differences between the adolescents and the adults. The juveniles have white down feathers on their chest unlike the adult’s speckled torsos. Also, the adolescents have blue/gray colored eyes while adult burrowing owl eyes are yellow/gold. These small but spectacular birds are just about fully matured. You can visit them and see other species of owls at the Birds of Prey exhibit.
Pictures of Peaches
As an added bonus, enjoy some of our favorite photos of Peaches when he was just a youngster. Good news for those of you who enjoyed this story, you can register for a Wild Encounter for the chance to see Peaches and other animals from the show.
